The inimitable Carlo Curley passed away on Saturday, 11 August 2012.
One of the world's finest Organists, he made organ concerts fun and enjoyable to a far wider audience than the typical organ concert crowd.
Organists - and others about to perform - normally tuck themselves away in their dressing room before a concert, but not Carlo. He was out in the foyer of St Matthew's, greeting everyone as they arrived, as if he was a host greeting guests for a party. And when it was time to play, he simply got up and wandered up the aisle and started playing.
And then he wowed us on the Rodgers Trillium - over which he had total mastery - with stunning playing, interspersed with witty and interesting observations about the music and the organ.
Carlo Curley had a real gift for explaining the organ. Here's the first of his three-part video series, A Guided Organ Tour.
