Gen Y appear more comfortable sharing and meeting with friends online according to ReadWriteWeb than they do when logged out of cyberspace.
Communicating with Generation Y is a challenge - ask any parent or manager of this age group. "Real" face-to-face conversations are constantly interrupted by sending and receiving texts and getting their attention for more than a couple of nano seconds is a real mission.
Time will tell whether the seeming artificiality of these cyber friendships will stunt the emotional development of the internet generation. Some of them seem to lack basic conversational skills necessary to get on in the workplace, although their knowledge of technology is excellent.
